It seems to be in use everyplace I go.Īs far as what a SoftPlan-Sapphire hook-up looks like, SoftPlan exports a valid MiTek "MiTek Exchange File" (.MXF) at the project level and as far as I know (I will update this info tomorrow if incorrect) - it's a one-way push TO Sapphire. I don't know actual numbers but my gut is that MiTek is probably the market leader in truss design software and also actual products. ![]() They were spending a huge amount of time re-drawing in MiTek what Paul(and others) thought might already be drawn by the builders - but they didn't have any access to the data. What they wanted to accomplish was to make it much easier for their MiTek truss plant and lumberyards to get design data in from the builders etc they were servicing. I basically just helped them survey the various companies out there in the residential space, Softplan of course being one, who were round one integration possibilities. I was working with their VP of product dev Paul Pinsky at the very beginning of the process a few years ago - unfortunately he retired, so at that point I was out of the loop. Mitek has been pretty aggressive at reaching out to other software vendors, but the degree of "integration" they've cooked up is all over the map. Here's what I know - probably not much -)
